About the Department
Akdeniz University Department of Nutrition and Dietetics was first established in 2009 within the Antalya School of Health to conduct education and research in the field of nutrition and dietetics. In 2018, it was restructured under the Faculty of Health Sciences and began offering undergraduate education in the same year. Since its establishment, the department has aimed to respond to the evolving needs in the field of nutrition science and dietetics in Türkiye, to educate competent graduates in the areas of clinical nutrition, community nutrition, and food service systems.
Over time, the department has strengthened its academic staff, expanded its laboratory infrastructure, and enhanced its practice-oriented education model. In alignment with Akdeniz University’s vision as a research university, project-based learning, interdisciplinary research, and international collaborations have been actively encouraged within the department.
Today, the department serves as an academic center that provides both undergraduate and graduate education, conducts numerous research projects, and plays an active role in clinical and community-based nutrition research.
